About Rooibos Day
National Rooibos Day is celebrated on 16 January.
The picturesque countryside town of Clanwilliam, known as the Rooibos capital of South Africa, plays host to an event celebrating the momentous occasion.
The festivities are held at Augsburg Agricultural Gymnasium on the evening of 16 January between 18:00 and 22:00. Entrance to the function is free of charge.
The first National Rooibos Day will pay homage to the Rooibos plant, and commemorate the blessing of the harvest.
More than 100 Rooibos products of different trademarks will be available for purchase from numerous merchants.
Once the maximum amount of festival-goers are present, the occasion will be documented as the largest group of people drinking Rooibos tea at the same time ever, thereby setting a new world record!
National Rooibos Day will receive ongoing coverage on various social media platforms.
Use the hashtags #RooibosDay and #Rooibosdag, and also tag our social media accounts on Facebook (Rooibos Day), Twitter (@RooibosDay) and Instagram (@rooibosday). We want to hear from you!
